So I think if we tallied up the miles we drove this weekend we coulda been somewhere warm and tropical instead of back in Boonville. Oh well can't complain we're on our way to celebrate a early Thanksgiving ooooooo food coma.

So I wanna give a huge THANK YOU out to Erin at Dragonfly Beads, thanks so much for having us! We had a great time!!! Awesome turn out, we love visiting with our Syracuse peps! Bookmarks & Thongs are pretty self explanatory but BAUBLES? So story is, my mom for years has had this tiny Christmas Tree that she puts on the top of the TV for the holidays.....Over the years it's had babies and now there is one in the kitchen on the back of the toilet and even on at her desk at work covered with ornaments. She looks for mini decorations every year in hopes she'll grow another one to fill. So I thought what a great idea to make mini Christmas bulbs outta beads. So By posting this I'm kinda letting the cat outta the bag on what she is getting for Christmas, but Baubles make a little more since.

Intermediate Marbles with Borosilicate Glass
Christopher Rice Flameworking
Working with borosilicate glass, students will learn advanced marble-making techniques and how to create basic floral implosions, vortexes, butterflies, and surface designs. The class will explore the range of available borosilicate colors, determining which ones work well together in different applications. Crayon colors will be used for flowers and surface decorations. Students will be shown how to make implosion marbles with solid rods and tubing, and how to approach larger sized spheres. One year of flameworking experience is required.
Christopher Rice has been flameworking since 1999. Since then, Mr. Rice has studied with Robert Mickelsen, Milon Townsend, and Eric Goldschmidt. He currently operates C.N.Y. Glass Studio in Boonville, NY, with his wife, Jacquelyn.

This weekend we have a full class of beginner lampwork bead makers!! Next weekend the 15 & 16 we are in Rochester doing the INNOVATIVE BEAD EXPO, look forward to seeing all of ya out there!!!

Alright I've been slacking on keeping this blog up to date!!

Some new things in the works we are starting up jewelry making classes, first one is Tuesday Night 6 till 8 July 22 wire wrapping 101 for beginners. $15.00 plus materials. I'm really looking forward to it!!It's going to be a blast!!!

Also just recently I was a guest designer on Vintaj brass website/blog....I was really honored and LOVE their work as well you can check it out on vintaj

Wheaton Marble Show was a couple weeks ago! We had a great time meeting up with everyone again. Bad news is, It maybe the last year for it.......Wheaton is no longer going to have a marble weekend.

What kind of beads do you make? What kinds of processes do you use? What is your favorite beadmaking technique? Lampwork Beads, Marbles, Sculpture and Goblets are our specialties! We love making glass into a works of art in all shapes and sizes. We also dabble in glass fusing, slumping, and sandblasting. Our favorite techniques are making flowers and butterfly implosions and cartoon like critter beads.

How did you get into bead making? What are some of the important things you do for your business? Chris began working with glass about 7 years ago focusing primarily on blown work and hollow forms. From there he ventured into marbles and has never looked back. Jacquelyn began lampworking about a year later with the same approach. After a while Jacquelyn began to stray to find her own calling in glass art. She found sculpture and bead making allowed her to express her humor and adventurous personality better and on a smaller scale. Two most important things to do as a business is to never put all your eggs in one basket, and be open minded. For every minute not working is another dollar left unearned.

Much of my new work has butterflies, birds, flowers and of course frogs. I've been working with alot of soft glass because the bright vibrant colors seem to create a warmth among the chilly weather we are having.
